Gangbox is a child website of the Construction Advancement Foundation. Gangbox's main feature was to show the current as well as past projects done in the NWI region. CAF came to us to help build a custom project management system to make updates and have users submits projects around the region to be featured.
Construction Advancement Foundation approached VIA Marketing after the completion of their main website www.cafnwin.org to help bring their project to life. They wanted a simple website to display a featured project, as well as previous projects that comopnies have worked on in the NWI region. They wanted not only the staff at CAF (construction Advancement Foundation) to make updates and submite projects, but allows project managers to submite projects to the staff for review, and instant publishing.
Some of the main features needed were:
CAF wanted this site to funcion as an extention of their main website. This included connected the new project management system to their current content management system and having new login credentials for the new website.
In order to efficiently launch this new website, we had to determine the best way to addon a project management system to the current content management system. To do this, our developer decided to create a login portal, that when logged in, sends the staff member to either the content management system or the project management system. This would limit what staff memeber has access to based on their login credentials.
Once that was all sorted out, we needed to create the project management system. This was controlled by a mySQL database, where the staff member has a simple form with text fields for the data and image uploader for the gallery. The information was then stored on the database. The staff memeber would also have the ability to edit or delete any projects currently in the database through our project management system.
Construction Advancement Foundation wanted the ability to provide a private link with username and password for project managers to submit their own projects to CAF for review. In order to accomplish this, we created a project submission page that was protected with a session variable based on the login ID and password. Once submitted, the CAF staff would get an email alerting them to a submission they can approve or decline or even edit in their project management system.
As for the front end of the website, our graphic designer kept the website simple. With accenting colors and simple layout, we were able to cleanly layout all the project information in a neat way while still ensuring to keep mobile responsiveness in mind. The project archives is a self sustaining feature that will always display the current year plus the 4 past ones, and updates itself on the start of the new year, syncing itself to the database.
We love feedback. Fill out the form below and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
